Cypress Real Estate and Relocation Information
Cypress, city in Orange County, is a residential
suburb of Long Beach; incorporated 1956. Cypress is the
corporate headquarters for several electronics and insurance
companies. Light manufacturing and research and development
are also important. A large community college, a branch
of Forest Lawn cemetery, and Los Alamitos Race Course
are here. Formerly a farm center, the community was known
as Dairy City until 1956, when it was renamed for its
cypress trees. Large-scale residential development took
place in the 1960s and 1970s. Industrial development occurred
in the 1980s. Today, Cypress is full of great homes and
great jobs. The city is constantly growing, and
improving the quality of life for its residents.
Developer AVG Partners, along with members
of the Cypress City Council, recently broke ground on
a new shopping center at Katella and Siboney in the Los
Alamitos Race Track Area. The center will be anchored
by 24 Hour Fitness and Office Depot, with Coldstone Creamery,
La Salsa, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Red Persimmon and
Subway in supporting roles, with more to follow.
This
is the first project in what the City plans to be a town
center on Katella between Lexington and Walker. The proposed
Costco store will be located at the the corner Katella
and Walker, and the remaining frontage along Katella will
also be developed for retail use.
