Buena Park

Buena Park boasts entertainment and fun.  The city offers a Wax Museum, Knott's Berry farm, Medieval Times and much more.  Also reasonably priced for housing, Buena Park is a great place for first time buyers and families.  Take some time to learn about the city's rich history - Buena Park was established in 1887!  So much has changed from the days of orange and avocado groves that used to dominate the city's landscaping - come and see for yourself!

Buena Park (or Plaza Buena, as it was known in the Rancho Days) was just another farming community until the Knott family put it on the map with their berry farm. In 1920 Walter and Cordelia Knott moved to Buena park, and gained the reputation for growing the tastiest berries in all of Orange County. Folks came from miles around to buy berries at their roadside stand. Then Cordelia Knott started making freshly baked chicken and pies, and that became equally successful. By the late 1940's, Cordelias kitchen became a popular chicken restaurant.

Walter Knott was fascinated with the old west. He felt that people who visited the berry farm may like to see a recreation of the old west. He built a structure to make it look like an authentic frontier town. Later more buildings were added, and the replica of the Old West became a fixture of Beach Blvd. As years past, rides were added and it became the theme park it is today.

Buena Park has been well known as the home of the boysenberry which was created when Walter Knott and Rudolph Boysen grafted together the blackberry, red raspberry and loganberry. Their little roadside stand started selling the boysenberry preserves and gradually evolved into the Knott's Berry Farm theme park.
